Strut Your Mutt 2024

Group of friends meet in the park with their dogs.

The Advocates have partnered with NOW 97.9 FM, THE WAVE 103.1 FM, and Best Friends Animal Society for Strut Your Mutt on October 19. This is our first time participating in this event, and we are thrilled to make some new furry friends.

What is Strut Your Mutt?

Strut Your Mutt is an annual fundraising walk and festival to find homes for pets without them. Every 90 seconds, a cat or dog is killed in a shelter in America because they have no safe place to call home, and we would like to see that number drastically reduced.

All the money raised for Strut Your Mutt helps find animal homes through Best Friends or other fantastic local animal welfare organizations. In 2023 Strut Your Mutt earned $55,164, and we hope to help raise even more for this excellent cause this year.

The event will include live entertainment, activities for family members of all numbers of legs and ages, exhibitor booths, food trucks, and a beer garden. It will be fun for everyone!

How to Stay Safe Around Dogs

It is important to remember that dogs have unique experiences and feelings, so it’s good to make sure they feel safe and secure so everyone stays safe. Here are some tips to ensure everyone has a good time:

  • Always ask permission before touching someone else’s dog.
  • Don’t corner a dog; they feel safer and more secure when they can escape a situation they don’t like.
  • Do not approach a dog on their property unless you are with that dog’s person. Dogs have been trained and bred for generations upon generations to protect their territory.
  • Do not harass, tease, or chase dogs. They have a fight-or-flight response just like humans and should be treated with respect.

If you respect a dog and their space you are much less likely to have any trouble with that dog.

The Advocates Are Here For You

Sometimes the worst cannot be avoided, and people are severely injured by dogs. If you have suffered an attack, you’ll need an attorney who cares; you’ll need an Advocate.
