The Advocates 5k Fun Run

This November 2nd, come join The Advocates for our inaugural 5k fun run. The goal is not to be the first one to finish but to enjoy the pleasure of exercise and community — you can, of course, time yourself if you wish.   

The great journey kicks off at 8 A.M. and finishes around 11. Bring your family, friends, running gear, and your best attitude. This 5k is going to be a blast.   

The Essential Details  

You can register below. Registration is free and open to everyone until a week before the event. This is a family occasion, open to all ages and all—well-behaved and leashed—four-legged friends.

As mentioned, winning isn’t the priority. But prizes will be given to the top three men, women, and children finishers. Even those who don’t place in the top three or even finish will have light refreshments available for them: muffins, cookies, juice, and coffee.   

The course is a certified 5k with three laps, and the venue is well worth visiting for the sights alone.  

The Venue  

Wheeler Farm is one of Salt Lake County’s most scenic destinations. It’s an Edenic working farm with a public park, seasonal events, markets, trails, and a playground.

Instead of jogging through city blocks and stoplights, you’ll get to see natural landscapes featuring Utah’s finest flora and antiquated farm buildings. It’s picturesque: The perfect place to spend a Saturday morning.   

The Charities We Run For

While we run for the exercise, we also do it to give back to our community. At the 5k, we will be collecting donations for two charities that are doing vital work. 

• Thanksgiving Heroes: Everyone deserves a bountiful Thanksgiving meal. Hundreds of thousands of your neighbors, friends, and community members cannot enjoy Thanksgiving because they can’t afford it. You can help by dropping off non-perishable, non-expired Thanksgiving foods—it’s a simple gesture that will make all the difference to those families who get to eat because of you.
• Hugs for the Holidays: The Road Home is running its annual collection of winter clothing. Every pair of mittens, socks, boots, and any other warm winter gear you can think of will go towards those who don’t have a roof over their heads this winter. Rummage through your closet, and if you find some winter gear you no longer use, bring it to the 5k. We’ll ensure someone in need gets it.
